Racey Louie storms home to score at Colac

Mar 23, 2013

A cool ride from apprentice Tillie Neve got the improving galloper Racey Louie home for his first win in the Eprinex Pour On Handicap (1200m) at Colac.

Racey Louie was eligible for easier races but trainer Mandy Shillito took the punt of running the four-year-old against before performed horses in the Rating 58 event.

Racey Louie resumed from a 20-week break but it was a more mature gelding that took his place against five rivals in the $15,000 contest.

The son of Untouchable began his first-up run moderately but Neve decided not to push Racey Louie too hard early, allowing her mount to find his feet second last in the early stages.

The front-runner Fantastic Lover set a strong gallop in front while Racey Louie began to work through his gears approaching the home turn.

Tequila Queen hit the lead 200 metres out but was no match for Racey Louie’s powerful finish under Neve’s strong riding.

Racey Louie strode to the line 1-1/2 lengths clear of his opposition to record his first win at his sixth outing.

Racey Louie earned a $9000 winner’s cheque for his connections plus a handy dividend for those astute enough to have something  on him at the $21 available.

Congratulations to Racey Louie’s owners - Darren Connell, Sylvia Kreutzer and Margaret Atkinson, Rod Pickett, Steve Rodgers, Darryl Summerfield and Wayne Testro
